How It Works

Pulse UAE is an independent hobby project. It is not an official source, and it is not an emergency service.

Data Source and Ownership

• All mapped reports come from public Reddit comments, specifically from r/dubai and r/UAE community threads and megathreads.
• I do not create or own incident data.
• I only process and visualise already-public comments.
• Reddit usernames are not stored or displayed. Reports are processed for location and keyword signals only.

How Scoring Works

Each report is assigned a score between 0 and 1 based on simple additive signals:

• Alert words like boom, bang, blast, siren
• A known Dubai area or neighbourhood mentioned near those words
• Post engagement such as upvotes
• Reply patterns that support or contradict the report

This is a rudimentary rule-based system - not AI, not machine learning, and not human review. Only reports above a minimum score threshold are shown on the map.

Filtering and Limitations

• Filtering is rudimentary and rule-based. No human reviews any report before it appears on the map.
• Sarcasm, jokes, rumours, or coordinated posting can and will mislead the score.
• A high score does not prove an event happened.
• A low score does not prove nothing happened.

Map Location Precision

The map is neighbourhood-level only. Marker and heatmap placement is approximate and should not be interpreted as an exact incident coordinate or exact building or street location.

What Grey Markers Mean

Muted grey markers are reports that were contradicted by replies. They are shown for transparency and context, not as verified facts.

What This Tool Does Not Do

• Does not verify incidents
• Does not access police, military, or government systems
• Does not monitor official channels
• Does not guarantee uptime or real-time accuracy
• Cannot tell you whether you are safe

Is this official?

No. This is an independent hobby project with no affiliation to any government, authority, or news outlet.

Can I use this for emergency decisions?

No. Always trust official UAE sources over anything on this site: Dubai Police 999, Dubai Media Office, UAE NCEMA.

Do you own or originate these reports?

No. All source data comes from public Reddit comments. I do not create incident data.

Who built this?

One person, as a hobby project. No team, no funding, no institutional backing.

Why do some areas show more reports than others?

Partly because more people post from those areas on Reddit, not necessarily because more events occurred there. The map reflects Reddit activity, not ground truth.
